Sheltering Wings sponsors Ruth Cox and Linda Wilk as missionaries who run our programs in West Africa. Ruth is the founder of Sheltering Wings and a board member. Ruth and Linda oversee several educational, medical and spiritual programs in their region. Below is a list of some of their programs.

Sponsor a Child

Child sponsorship reaches the most vulnerable children by giving them the opportunity to be educated, learn about God’s love and grow up healthy…all things critical in helping children escape extreme poverty.
Sponsorship provides school fees, school supplies and basic medical care for the children. The child's family also receives semi-annual food distributions. Your donation of $35 per month provides ongoing support to your child.

Church Planting Fund

Sheltering Wings has developed long term partnerships with local pastors in West Africa. Ruth and Linda have a passion for spreading the Gospel in their region. Your donation sends national pastors to Bible School, builds churches and funds evangelistic outreaches.

Aspiring young adults who can’t afford the costs may miss out on pursuing higher education, the key to a path out of poverty.

Your gift to the Kimini Higher Education Fund will help make progress possible for a University or Technical School student.

Girls Training Center

Sheltering Wings partners with Lighting the Path, a St Louis, MO based non-profit organization, to build a residential training center for young women who have failed in traditional educational settings. The training will bring hope for a bright future as the students learn life skills such as: sewing, weaving, soap making, tie-dying, agriculture, and animal husbandry.

Daily devotions and Bible study provide an environment that nurtures the whole person. Please join us in prayer and financial support to provide opportunities for deserving girls.

A special fund has been set up to help with unexpected emergency medical care, medical supplies and equipment for the village.

Sheltering Wings partners with Friends in Action International to drill wells near the local churches.

There is a critical need for clean water in our region. Clean water means a healthier village and provides an opportunity for the local pastor to share the “Living Water” with the people. Your donation will meet this need!

Women's Literacy

Many women have not been given an opportunity for
a formal education, consequently they are unable to read and
write. Literacy classes provide an opportunity to break the
cycle of illiteracy while fostering confidence and self-esteem.
Classes are offered during the dry months when women are not
working in the fields. Thank you for your donation.
